The head of the US Cybersecurity Agency uploaded internal documents to ChatGPT, making them available to developers and users.

According to Politico, citing sources, after his appointment as acting head of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Agency, Madhu Gottumukkala requested permission for the agency to use the public version of ChatGPT, which had previously been prohibited. In the summer of 2025, he uploaded official documents to ChatGPT. While none of the files were classified, many were marked “for official use only.”

According to sources, several automatic security alerts were triggered after this. The Ministry of Internal Affairs then launched an internal investigation, the results of which are unknown.

Earlier, Madhu Gottumukkala, head of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), failed a polygraph test administered by his subordinates. As a result, the employees, not the head, were suspended.
