The Kirovsky District Court of Saratov announced the verdict against ex-prosecutor of the same district Andrey Prigarov. He was found guilty of fraud on an especially large scale and received five years in a penal colony.
He will serve his sentence from April 24, 2024, when his son turns 14 years old. Recall that Prigarov is a widower and is raising a child alone.
He will wait for punishment at home – the preventive measure has been changed to an obligation to appear. At the same time, stay under house arrest will be counted in time.
Recall that Prigarov was charged with taking a bribe from Alexei Chugunov from Saratov for stopping the criminal case on fraud, which still went to court.
According to investigators, the unfinished house became the subject of the bribe. It was filed in the name of Prigarov’s brother, and since the prosecutor could not influence the court’s decision in any way, the act was also qualified as fraud.
The house itself, located in Polivanovka, turned out to be a gift of dubious value: back in 2020, the Leninsky District Court declared it illegal and decided to demolish it. The victim Chugunov insisted that the debate be held behind closed doors, without the presence of the press. Most of the meetings with his participation took place in this way.
Also, the former prosecutor was charged with taking bribes from the municipal funeral company MUSPP Ritual in the amount of 7.7 million rubles and a share in the private LLC Ritual.
The unfinished crematorium on the territory of the old Elshansky cemetery, now called the Bureau of Funeral Services, remains the focus of the investigation and court. In order to answer the question of what exactly the building is, experts had to be involved.
The prosecution requested that Prigarov be sent to a strict regime colony for 10 years and fined 51.3 million rubles. They also wanted to deprive him of the right to work in law enforcement agencies for 5 years.
