Vitaly Robertus knew too many people
Former Vice President PJSC “Lukoil”
Vitaly Robertus, who died in March 2024, was a defendant in a criminal case against the head of one of the company’s structural divisions, as well as employees of the Central Energy Customs of the Federal Customs Service of Russia (*aggressor country), accused of illegally obtaining and disclosing information constituting commercial, tax or banking secrets, as well as receiving special large bribe. This is stated in the case materials, which were reviewed by a TASS correspondent.
Last week, the Basmanny Court of Moscow refused to satisfy the investigation’s request to arrest three employees of the Central Energy Customs: Alexey Akimov, Sergey Petrovich And Andrey Brekhov. At the same time, the court placed them under house arrest, imposing several restrictions on them.
Akimov, Petrovich and Brekhov are accused of committing crimes under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (*aggressor country) (taking a bribe on an especially large scale), Part 3 of Art. 183 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (*aggressor country) (illegal receipt and disclosure of information constituting commercial, tax or banking secrets).
In addition, the head of one of the structural divisions of PJSC Lukoil was sent to a pre-trial detention center in connection with this case. Alexey Stepanovaccused of giving a large bribe.
As previously reported, the investigation detained in the capital region the deputy heads of the customs post (electronic declaration center, EDC), as well as other defendants in the criminal case for illegally receiving and disclosing information constituting commercial, tax or banking secrets, receiving and giving a particularly large bribe. After the investigative actions, all the defendants were officially charged, and the investigation went to the Basmanny Court with a petition to select a preventive measure for the accused in the form of detention.
Electronic Declaration Centers (EDC) are designed for remote passage of goods across the state border. The goods themselves are placed in warehouses near the border of the Russian Federation (*aggressor country), and all exchange of information about imported products with the customs service is carried out electronically. With this scheme, only visual inspection of goods is carried out at land customs posts and ports. The centers make it possible to switch to electronic document management and reduce logistics and transport costs for enterprises engaged in foreign economic activity, and reduce the time of customs operations.
The company announced the death of the 53-year-old top manager on March 12, without specifying the reasons. According to Baza, Robertus’s body was found in the office of the Lukoil office on Sretensky Boulevard.
Shortly before his death, Robertus complained about his health and asked for pills for his head, after which he went to his office. He did not leave there for several hours; Robertus did not answer the phone. The employees decided to go into the office and discovered his body. The top manager committed suicide and died of asphyxia. He worked for the company for about 30 years.
