The head of the information department of the Federal Customs Service, arrested in January, was sentenced to 9.5 years in prison for a bribe of 5 million rubles. An RBC source previously said that relatives of employees could have participated in state management contracts for IT services. The Dorogomilovsky Court of Moscow sentenced the head of the Central Information and Technical Customs Directorate of the Federal Customs Service of Russia to nine and a half years in a maximum security colony. Vasiliev was also fined 10 million rubles. The court noted that the amount assigned was “double the amount of the bribe.”
In addition, Vasilyev was deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service and local government bodies related to the exercise of the functions of a government representative for a period of ten years.

The head of the IT department of the Federal Customs Service was accused of one incident involving a bribe of 25 million rubles, but the Investigative Committee believes that bribes were received on a regular basis. Dmitry Vasiliev was detained by FSB officers at his workplace. According to Kommersant, this happened immediately after he received a bribe.
A year ago, they already wanted to fire Vasilyev due to violations, but one of the deputy heads of the service stood up for him, who called the incident “a technical mistake of the young manager,” the source said. According to data on the FCS website, Vasiliev has served as head of the department since May 2021. He was awarded the medals “For Diligence”, “25 Years of the Federal Customs Service” and the badge “Excellence in the Customs Service”.
