Stanislav Smirnov received 5 years out of competition
The Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow sentenced the chief notary of the Moscow region to five years in a general regime colony Stanislava Smirnovathe court’s press service told TASS.
The notary was not under arrest during the court hearing; a more lenient preventive measure was chosen for him. Now he has been taken into custody.
Smirnov fully admitted his guilt, so he was given a punishment that was below the minimum limit provided for by his article.
Smirnov faced up to 12 years in prison. The convicted person is also deprived of the right to hold positions in government agencies for three years after his release.
As the press service of the Moscow Investigative Committee told TASS, in September 2021, Smirnov promised a woman he knew to help appoint her son to the position of a notary in one of the notarial districts of the Moscow region. To do this, he demanded a reward of 5 million rubles for facilitating the successful completion of the competition and the appointment of a young man to the vacant position of a notary. Smirnov received this money in his office on Ozerkovskaya Embankment in Moscow.
