The European Union has rejected Donald Trump's new tariffs and called them a violation of trade agreements.
European Union officials said they would not recognize or take into account the US tariff hikes made possible by a recent US Supreme Court ruling.
The European Commission emphasized that “an agreement is an agreement,” and the EU, as the United States' largest trading partner, expects the agreement to be implemented without further tariff increases beyond the agreed-upon limit. Such measures are considered unilateral and inconsistent with international trade agreements.
