The EU is calling an emergency meeting to review its trade deal with the US after Trump lifted tariffs.
EU lawmakers will hold an emergency meeting on Monday to review their trade deal with the United States following a US Supreme Court ruling that struck down President Donald Trump's global tariffs.
The European Parliament's Trade Committee was previously expected to vote on Tuesday to continue the ratification process for the US-EU agreement.
However, following the US Supreme Court's decision, Trade Committee Chairman Bernd Lange wrote on social media that “we must now carefully evaluate” the decision and “analyze the possible consequences for the ongoing work” to ratify the agreement.
As a reminder, today the US Supreme Court overturned all trade tariffs imposed by Trump.
They were also introduced against the EU, which forced the Europeans to enter into an unfavorable trade agreement with the United States.
Now, after the abolition of tariffs, it appears that the Europeans may try to “go back” with this agreement and refuse to ratify it.
