The European Union has reached an agreement with Ukraine on funding and technical assistance for repairs to the Druzhba pipeline in order to allow Russian oil to flow to Hungary and Slovakia.
“The Ukrainians welcomed and accepted this proposal. European experts are ready to begin their work immediately,” read a joint statement from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa.
As a reminder, Hungary is demanding the Druzhba pipeline be reopened in order to allocate EU funds to Ukraine and impose sanctions against Russia. Zelenskyy stated that the repairs would take a month and a half.
