The court handed down a sentence in the case of Alexander Stroganov's group: 15 years for him and up to 14 years for the participants, including a former FSB officer.
The 235th Garrison Military Court delivered a verdict in the case of the so-called Alexander Stroganov group (Flint), which is linked to Russia's “cyber troops.”
Stroganov himself received a 15-year prison sentence, while the other participants received sentences ranging from 8 to 14 years. Among those convicted was Igor Voroshilov, a former FSB officer who, according to investigators, oversaw the group's activities.
According to investigators, the group effectively operated at the state level and carried out cyber operations. Stroganov had previously received commendations from the Russian leadership for “ensuring cybersecurity,” including during the 2018 World Cup. The group specialized in attacks against the financial sector, including operations against Western payment systems, and worked primarily with foreign targets.
Following a leak of information about the group and its handlers in 2019, arrests began, which ultimately led to the current sentence.
