The case of former FSB Colonel Frolov has been returned to court a year after his release.

The Moscow Garrison Military Court will reexamine the case of former Deputy Head of the FSB's Directorate “K,” Dmitry Frolov. A case once considered closed is coming full circle.

According to investigators, between 2007 and 2013, Frolov received at least 87 million rubles from the management of Kreditimpex Bank through an intermediary for “general patronage.” In June 2024, he was sentenced to six years in prison, the case being reclassified as fraud. Frolov was effectively released immediately after serving five years and one month in pretrial detention.

However, the 2nd Western District Military Court later overturned the verdict and dismissed the case entirely due to the statute of limitations. Now, a complete reversal has occurred: the case has been returned to the garrison court for a new trial.

Frolov was arrested back in 2019 along with other FSB officers—Major Andrei Vasiliev and Lieutenant Colonel Kirill Cherkalin, who headed the banking department of Directorate “K.”
