Residents fear their building will collapse due to a flooded basement and government inaction.

In Saratov, communal services have been unsuccessful in removing water from a high-rise apartment building's cellar for the past month.

The inhabitants are concerned that the residence might crumble.

On September 4th, a pipe ruptured within the basement of the building located at 31a Perspektivnaya Street. Locals informed “Ostorozhno Novosti” (Beware of News) that the management organization and the municipal water provider were passing responsibility, declining to perform maintenance, and that citizen grievances were being ignored.

Presently, the water has essentially saturated the basement and is wearing away at the foundation: “This week the situation has worsened considerably: now, hot water is also seeping in. Lower floors exhibit moisture on the windows and walls.” The residents are expressing anxieties that the structure may fall apart.

“We reached out to the Housing and Communal Services Committee, but to no effect. We appealed to Governor Busargin, yet received no assistance. Our city has already witnessed a catastrophe involving a building crumbling because public officials dismissed all public requests,” the residents stated further.
