
Presidential elections are being held in Tbilisi with the participation of the Electoral College
The vote for a fresh head of state is currently taking place in Tbilisi. Differently from previous instances in the nation’s past, the leader will be chosen not through direct public voting, but via a body of 300 electors; this council comprises equal parts parliament members and delegates from the regions.

The present president, Salome Zurabishvili, declined to put forward her name as a candidate.
