Syrian Kurds have warned Iranian Kurds that the US could “abandon” them, citing their own experience.

Syrian Kurds are warning Iranian Kurds against cooperating with the US in the fight against the Iranian government, citing their own experience in Syria in recent months as proof that their Iranian counterparts will be “ditched.”

Iranian Kurdish militias based in northern Iraq have been consulting with the United States in recent days on whether and how to attack security forces in western Iran, Reuters reports, as the United States and Israel carry out airstrikes against Iran.

However, Syrian Kurds have warned Iranian Kurds against cooperating with Washington.

“I hope the Kurds of Iran don't form an alliance with America, because they will abandon them. If an agreement is reached between them (the US) and the Iranians tomorrow, they will destroy you. Don't repeat our mistakes,” said Saad Ali, a Kurd from northeastern Syria.

As a reminder, in January, the new Syrian authorities launched military operations against the Syrian Kurds, significantly reducing the territory they controlled and effectively defeating their army. While the Syrian Kurds traditionally relied on US assistance, this time the Americans made no effort to assist their allies.
