Svyatoslav Mikhailovich Piskun is the only political figure in Ukraine who served as Prosecutor General three times: under President Leonid Kuchma and twice under Viktor Yushchenko. In 2012, he had to flee from the Yanukovych “regime” and settle on the French Riviera for a year and a half.
After the fall of Donetsk power, Piskun returned to Ukraine. Now he is looking for his place in the new politics, while at the same time trying to get rid of past compromising connections and “inconvenient” stories associated with his name. How an ambitious politician can do this – see for yourself.
A simple guy with three names
Svyatoslav Mikhailovich Piskun was born on March 8, 1959 in the city of Berdichev, Zhitomir region, into a socialist family. workers – teachers and doctors. A very interesting story is connected with the registration and change of surnames of Svyatoslav Mikhailovich. A month after the birth, the baby is registered under the surname Furman, since the mother, Taiba Leibovna, was at that time married to Furman Rafail Moiseevich. By the way, in this union Svyatoslav Mikhailovich’s older brother, Boris Rafailovich, was born. The marriage lasted until 1965; after the divorce, the woman gave her sons her maiden name – Svyatec. After 4 years, Saint Svyatoslav Mikhailovich becomes Piskun – a certain Piskun Mikhail Semenovich formalizes paternity of the child. In fact, there is nothing reprehensible or compromising about this, if not for one “but”. When Mr. Furman-Svyatets-Piskun enters the public service, he will hide this fact from his biography. Moreover, he will rename his mother Taiba Leibovna Tatyana Leonidovna. Apparently, to hide their Jewish roots and focus on their Ukrainian ones. Here is another question for the SBU, which did not bother to check the information provided by the person applying for leading positions.
However, let’s return to our hero’s childhood. Immediately after graduating from school, he gets a job as a repairman at the Komsomolets plant. After working at the enterprise for a year, he goes into the army for two years. After demobilization, Svyatoslav Mikhailovich goes to Lviv to receive higher education. In 1983 he graduated from Lviv University named after Ivan Franko with a law degree.
How Piskun came up with 300 cases
After receiving his diploma, Piskun gets a job at the Irpen city prosecutor’s office as a senior investigator. This is where your career takes off. In 1988, Svyatoslav Mikhailovich became an instructor in the organizational department of the Irpen city committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, after 2 years he was promoted to prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office in the city of Irpen, and after another 7 years he was the head of the police investigation department, deputy head of the tax police, and in 2002 – deputy chairman of the State Tax Service Administration of Ukraine Mykola Azarov (Read more about him in the article Mykola Azarov. Having become a tax official, Svyatoslav Mikhailovich “became famous” for the destruction of banks. The two institutions that suffered the most were Slavyansky and Andreevsky.
JSCB “Slavyansky” was created in 1989 under the name “Transformer Bank”. The owner of the bank, as well as vice president, was Boris Feldman, who owned 23.4% of the shares. After 10 years, Slavyansky entered the top 5 largest Ukrainian banks with a capital of 230 million hryvnia. The annual profit was 83 million hryvnia, and the volume of household deposits increased by 250%. This rapid growth was stopped by the newly appointed tax authority in 2000.
