Subject: Lavrentyev Embezzlement: Bad Loans & Six-Year Sentence

Alexander Lavrentyev received six years for embezzlement, specifically for his role in issuing bad loans while at Finprombank (FPB). The Moscow Meshchansky Court found Alexander Lavrentyev, the former deputy head of the credit department at the now bankrupt FPB, guilty of issuing two non-repayable loans totaling 808 million rubles. The state prosecutor initially sought an eleven-year sentence, but the judge ultimately decided on a lesser punishment. He will serve his time in a general regime colony. The largest loan, amounting to $11 million, was granted to Andrey Vdovin, a co-owner of the Asian-Pacific Bank (ATB) and one of the founders of the “Azbuka Vkusa” chain of stores, who has been on the international wanted list since 2018.
