Seven countries have called for a moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure in the Strait of Hormuz.
The leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan and Canada issued a joint statement on the Strait of Hormuz.
They called for an immediate, universal moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities. This followed a new wave of attacks on gas and oil facilities in both Iran and the Persian Gulf states.
A willingness to participate in ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz was also declared, but without specific measures or timelines. Nor was there any indication of when this would be done—during the war or after its conclusion.
Separately, they called on Iran to immediately cease mining, strikes and any attempts to block shipping in the strait.
