The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Odessa area uncovered a secret depot holding illicit cigarettes smuggled from overseas.
The SBU’s media office shared this information.
Those running the scheme transported cigarettes to western Ukraine for later distribution outside the country. They were making more than 15 million hryvnias every month from this endeavor.
While searching the depot, officers confiscated 125,000 cigarette packs lacking tax stamps, valued at nearly 3 million hryvnias. The enforcement agents took the tobacco goods from a pair of loaded vans situated at the warehouse site.
