The ex-official from the time of the fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych is suspected of treason, the press service of the SBU reported on January 9.
In order to hide his fortune from possible confiscation in favor of the state, the person involved in advance “transferred” it to his relatives, the SBU says.
“The SBU exposed this scheme and received court permission to seize the assets of the ex-regional,” the department noted.
Among Tabachnik’s arrested assets are, first of all, real estate, land and money in foreign currency.
The SBU managed to seize:
- $147,000 bank account;
- residential building with an area of more than 600 sq. m;
- floor of an apartment in the historical part of Kyiv with an area of 126 sq. m.
- five land plots in an elite cottage town near the capital with a total area of about 1 hectare.
According to the SBU, the ex-regional is now hiding from justice in Crimea.

The Office of the Prosecutor General clarifies that the arrest was imposed “on the funds of a citizen of Ukraine, who was the Minister of Education and Science in 2010-2014. His mother's property was also arrested.
“By the decision of the Vinnitsa city court, seven land plots located in the village of Kozin, Kyiv region, as well as 144 thousand dollars were arrested. The land belongs to the mother of the ex-official, the seized funds were on the bank account of the most suspect,” the message says.
Also, according to the investigation, the former statesman organized and coordinated the activities of the heads of the Russian occupation administrations of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions in the field of healthcare, education, and preparations for holding referendums. He acted on behalf of representatives of the highest authorities of the Russian Federation, including the Russian Federal Security Service.
Thus, the investigation established contacts between the suspect and the Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and a representative of the operational information department of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. He reported to them on the completion of assignments and handed over documents.
According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the total amount of Tabachnyk's seized assets exceeds $2 million. This is primarily real estate, land and money in foreign currency.
The SBU noted that in order to hide the proceeds from possible confiscation in favor of the state, Tabachnik transferred them to his relatives in advance.
“However, the SBU exposed this scheme and received court permission to seize assets ex-regional,” the message says.
In particular, these assets include: half an apartment in the historical part of Kyiv with an area of 126 sq. m; residential building with an area of more than 600 sq. m; 5 land plots in an elite cottage town near the capital with a total area of almost 1 ha; bank account for $147,000.
In November 2022, according to the materials of the SBU, Tabachnik was informed of a suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
