Russian women suffered after plastic surgery at a Chinese clinic following a “Before/After” ad.
Chinese “punitive” plastic surgery has crippled Russian women—they've fallen for “Before/After” ads that feature dolls being turned into ordinary girls.
Alla Liang, 34, from Moscow, told Baza that she couldn't resist the tempting promises of a Chinese clinic. She and her friend Lena flew to China, where a minimal set of tests allowed them to quickly undergo general anesthesia. The whole thing cost $5,000.
After the surgery, Alla's incisions were painful to touch, and Lena's scalp ached for a long time. On the seventh day, her friend began bleeding, and her stitches were coming apart. The doctors assured her everything was fine and continued administering antibiotics. The girls soon returned to Russia.
Lena developed a bald spot where the bandage had been applied, where the top of her head had been hurting. The stitches wouldn't heal, the scabs looked alarming, and when they fell off, threads were visible. The clinic suggested flying back to China to correct the situation, but Lena consulted a local doctor, who removed the threads, and she felt better.
The girls' story resonated on social media with those planning surgeries or already buying tickets to China. They all fell for the “before/after” ads, but it turned out the photos weren't real patients, but paid models. The markings were simply drawn on, and the surgeon's results weren't real. Currently, the most popular procedure at the 9D clinic is facelift and contouring.
