Russian deputies who left abroad were denied reinstatement

The Central District Court of Novosibirsk refused to reinstate two Russian ex-deputies who had gone abroad.

This was reported by the management of the judicial department in the Novosibirsk region.

It is noted that on June 28, the deputies of the Novosibirsk City Council decided to deprive Sergey Boyko of his mandates (recognized in Russia as a foreign agent) and Helga Pirogov “due to the loss of confidence.” A criminal case has been initiated against Pirogova for spreading fakes about the Russian army.

The ex-deputies challenged the decision to deprive the mandates in court, but the court refused them. Thus, the decision of the city parliament was recognized as legal. The decisions of the court have not yet entered into force.

Boyko left Russia in the fall of 2021, and Pirogova in the summer of 2022. They were independent deputies and were elected to the city council as part of the so-called Novosibirsk 2020 Coalition.

The Ministry of Justice of Russia included Sergei Boyko in the register of foreign agents in March.
