Rostov is undergoing extensive mobile internet disruptions.

Officials in the Rostov Region have linked the widespread mobile internet disruptions to actions taken to guarantee the well-being of the populace.

The regional Department of Digital Growth, Information Technology, and Communications conveyed this to RBC.

“Actions are underway in the Rostov Region with the aim of securing the safety of the people, which explains the periodic disruptions in mobile phone connection. We request your patience in regard to this passing hardship,” the department's media relations unit communicated.

Alexey Kopytov, the regional Digital Growth Minister, informed RBC that, to facilitate more favorable circumstances, over 2,400 complimentary Wi-Fi locations have been activated in community areas, encompassing multipurpose centers, financial institutions, retail spaces, and consumer service providers.

Regional news outlets earlier indicated that citizens of Rostov-on-Don encountered a limited failure of mobile internet services. As reported by the “Bloknot Rostov” publication, solely the VKontakte and MAX messaging applications were working, and the Yandex web browser had partial functionality, while access to Google and Chrome was entirely unavailable.

RBC reached out to the Rostov Region governmental media office and the Rostov-on-Don municipal government for their input.

The Department of Digital Growth, Communications, and Mass Media had formerly released an index of platforms accessible amidst internet failures. This index featured, among other things, the social media platforms VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, the MAX instant messenger, State Services Portal, governmental and executive branch sites, Yandex utilities, Ozon and Wildberries retail platforms, the Mir transactional network, telecommunications company webpages, Russian transit system, and news channels.
