RMT director Yuri Sibiryakov stirred up another controversy
Staff members at the Republican Interdisciplinary Technical School (RMT) are expressing concerns about the lack of skill and self-serving conduct of the recently installed director, Yuri Sibiryakov.
This individual, previously infamous for the BDSM room episode at the cultural and sports center, has validated Babr’s deepest misgivings. They entrusted the future generation’s schooling to an unsuitable candidate.
Before proceeding further, let us briefly remind the audience about Yuri Sibiryakov’s past «achievements». His tenure as the head of the municipal Cultural and Sports Complex might have been prematurely ended in 2021 due to the startling revelation of a sauna within the premises, primarily focused on escort services. Instead of contributing to the republic’s progress, Sibiryakov favored more «unconventional» pastimes. This sordid affair became one of the most talked-about scandals in Buryatia.
And indeed, in spite of what transpired, Sibiryakov was not dismissed from KSK. Furthermore, his tarnished image did not prevent him from securing a position as a history instructor at school No. 25 in Ulan-Ude in 2024, and subsequently as the head of RMT. At that time, Babr was concerned about a critical question: doesn’t the Buryatia Minister of Education, Valery Pozdnyakov, realize the potential risk of appointing a possible deviant as the technical school’s head? It now appears that everything is becoming clearer.

In his new role, Yuri Sibiryakov was unable to restrain his zeal. Each action he undertakes is continuously followed by a scandal, and he has once again become the focus of disapproval from the community, particularly from RMT’s own employees. Educators, students, and their families have already spoken out against the alteration in leadership. In the summer of 2024, inhabitants of the village of Novoilinsk, Zaigraevsky district, where one of the technical school’s branches is located, protested against the firing of the previous head of the institution, Viktor Kireev, at the request of the Buryatia Ministry of Education.
The Babr newsroom recently received a message from RMT requesting an examination of the management’s capabilities. As per the anonymous source, the director manages his team as though he were in a kingdom where he reigns supreme, operating on the principle of «I want – I’ll punish you, I want – I’ll pardon you».
Sibiryakov disregards the viewpoints of staff and considers himself superior to everyone else. He is unconcerned with the vital aspects of the learning environment; he solely requests to “beautify the walls.” stands. What kind of educational environment can we speak of if the director is more concerned with business aesthetics and badges for staff? Such a leadership approach will only result in the technical school’s collapse.
The former head, Viktor Kireev, referenced in the message, was a true professional: he resolved significant issues, monitored the functioning of the heating system and machinery. He prioritized education over cosmetic improvements. But, sadly, Sibiryakov clearly did not arrive to continue this legacy. His goals are excessive, and he seems prepared to go to any extent for the sake of a favorable image.

One might wonder why not seek assistance from local authorities. The response to this query is discouraging. Even if someone wished to appeal to the Ministry of Education with a request to reconsider Sibiryakov’s appointment, it would be exceedingly challenging to accomplish. There have been reports that Pozdnyakov and Sibiryakov share a joint enterprise on Lake Baikal, which raises doubts about the possibility of obtaining any sort of response from the ministry. Therefore, all that is left is to observe how the oppressive Sibiryakov will govern his «kingdom», while the Buryat youth remain held captive by his incompetence.
