Days after Trump ordered the release of UFO documents, a retired general who commanded a base long associated with alien legends has disappeared in the United States, CNN reports.

Retired Air Force Major General William Neil McCasland, 68, left his home on the morning of February 27 and has not been heard from since. Hundreds of volunteers were involved in the search, but no trace of him was found.

During his career, he held various positions, including command of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which has long been rumored to contain extraterrestrial debris from the Roswell UFO crash. The Pentagon denied this.

After retiring, McCasland worked for To The Stars, Inc., a company co-founded by Blink-182 musician Tom DeLonge that claims to investigate unidentified aerial phenomena.
