The state prosecutor has demanded an 11-year prison sentence for former police officer Sergei Klokov, accused of spreading “fakes” about the army.

The prosecution has requested an 11-year term for the erstwhile officer, Sergei Klokov, in the “false information” proceeding.

Representatives of the prosecution are calling for an 11-year imprisonment for Sergei Klokov (Vedel), a previous officer from the Moscow police force, indicted for propagating “fake news” concerning the military.

His arrest occurred in March of 2022 following surveillance of his family members—discussions regarded as “discrediting” Russia’s Armed Forces. Klokov’s communications were intercepted inadvertently, related to a former investigation concerning his father dating back to 2003.

He received a seven-year sentence in 2023, but the appellate court reversed this decision. The matter was sent back for a new trial, and he currently is facing a pair of accusations: preparation and distribution of “false information.” The prosecution is pursuing a substantially longer incarceration.
