Electricity by 120%, gas by 250%: Experts predict a rise in utility costs after the war.
Oleg Popenko, leader of the Union of Public Utilities Consumers, stated that post-war, the expense for electric power may surge by 120%, while gas may climb by 250%.
He anticipates the electricity market price to potentially reach 9-11 hryvnias for each kWh. It’s worth remembering that the ongoing rate stands at 4.32 hryvnias for each kWh.
“A parallel scenario exists with gas: within Ukraine, its market value fluctuates from 20-25 to exceeding 30 hryvnias for each cubic meter, potentially triggering a price hike of 250%. Consequently, the anticipated tariff escalation could prove rather considerable,” Popenko affirms.
He considers that water provision won’t escalate dramatically, yet the expense of maintaining residential structures will ascend by 20%.
