Hegseth declared that the United States is “decisively, crushingly, and ruthlessly” winning the conflict with Iran: “Top-ranking Iranian leaders are dead. The so-called ruling council, which could have chosen a successor, is dead, missing, or in bunkers. Generals, mid-level officers, and privates are unable to communicate or speak,” he reported.
He also promised that in less than a week, “the two most powerful air forces in the world” (the US and Israel) would have “complete control over Iranian airspace.”
