Businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, who calls himself the founder of Wagner PMC, said the day before that the son of Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, Nikolai, served in this private military company in the NVO zone. Peskov Jr. confirmed this and stated that he was awarded for his service.
“Awarded, yes. I received the medal “For Courage,” he said in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
Prigozhin said that Peskov served in the zone of military operations in Ukraine as an artilleryman. He acted as part of the calculation of the Uragan multiple launch rocket system. According to the businessman, Peskov served six months.
Peskov clarified that he was awarded after the New Year for “a certain military feat”: “My entire crew accomplished a feat. We had one interesting outing. I can’t say more.”
The son of the presidential press secretary also stated that it was his initiative to go to the NMD zone. According to him, when he decided to go to the war zone, he did not know how to “get there correctly”, his father helped him contact the PMC.
“I considered it my duty. I just had to participate, I had to help everyone who was there. I couldn’t sit on the sidelines and watch my friends and other people go there, ”Peskov said about the reasons for serving in the special operation zone.
According to the son of the president’s press secretary, the family was worried about his decision to send him to the NVO, but did not dissuade him. Relatives asked if he understood where he was going, he confirmed this, Peskov said.
He was reminded in an interview about a conversation with an ally of oppositionist Alexei Navalny Dmitry Nizovtsev (recognized as a foreign agent). After the start of partial mobilization in September, he introduced himself as an employee of the military registration and enlistment office and asked Peskov to appear the next day, the son of the presidential representative refused. Then he said that “he would solve the issue at a different level.”
In an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, Peskov claims that when they called him, he was preparing for a trip to the NVO zone, so “he was a little on his nerves and told them.”
He also confirmed that he served in the PMC “Wagner” not under his last name. Prigogine spoke about this earlier. Peskov also said that none of his relatives called him in the NVO zone, because it was not safe, he did it himself, but very rarely.
In an interview, Peskov also said that there were times when he was scared in the war zone. According to him, when a fighter’s fear disappears, “he needs to get out of there.”
