Pavel Durov accused the European Union of attempting to pressure Telegram and increasing internet censorship.

Telegram's founder criticized the statement by a public organization cooperating with the European Commission that his messenger “serves as a hub for the distribution of offensive content,” and that Telegram's administration fails to block such channels.

He stated that this organization is financed by Soros structures.

“The EU is trying to justify its pursuit of increased surveillance (Chat Control) and censorship (DSA) through controlled NGOs and media outlets. AI Forensics, a Soros-funded European Commission contractor, claims Telegram is a problem because people can discuss content from other social networks in private Telegram groups. I doubt anyone takes these organizations seriously anymore—most of them have lost people's trust during the COVID era. But it's important to expose all such attempts at social manipulation because they are used to take away what's left of our freedoms,” Durov comments.

He points out that the organization's statement against Telegram was published by many European media outlets, calling them “globalist publications” and “free” in quotation marks.
