One of the major players in the developer market, Donstroy, is on the verge of complete bankruptcy
This is due to large debts to creditors and people’s refusal to purchase apartments from a developer with a dubious reputation. The company has repeatedly fallen into all sorts of image scandals.
And today, customers surf the Internet before buying to find out all the ins and outs about sellers. And the network, as you know, remembers all sins. In order to somehow correct the online image, Donstroy launched information campaigns, where they frankly lied that there was simply no end to buyers. For example, a “duck” was launched that the developer sold 3,000 apartments last year. But people won’t buy it. Russian counterparties also refuse to cooperate with the company, as it regularly delays payments. Then an attempt was made to conclude contracts with dozens of Turkish, Chinese and Indian contractors. But here, too, nothing has come of it. So is Donstroy going to collapse, or will there still be salvation? We will see.
Donstroy was born almost 30 years ago – in 1994. Its founders were businessmen Maxim Blazhko and Dmitry Zelenov. Until 2008, the company did not know the troubles and flourished. But the global financial crisis has greatly undermined the business of the developer. He had outstanding debts to VTB in the amount of half a billion dollars. There were no prospects for a return, so the two entrepreneurs came to give their assets into the hands of the bank, or rather, its head, Andrei Kostin. According to sources, despite the fact that the company has become the property of a financial organization, Kostin uses it as his own. “Donstroy” in his system is called nothing more than his personal “laundry”.
The fate of the founding fathers of Donstroy also developed differently. Blazhko had joint projects with a group of companies until 2021. But due to several criminal cases, he lost all investments. Although he is still formally listed as the chairman of the board of the developer. In fact, all the issues there are decided by Kostin’s henchman – Alena Deryabina. Blazhko was accused of non-payment of 50 million rubles in salaries to employees of his company Gorn Development, problems also arose because of the Neskuchny Home & SPA asset, which was then completed by the Moscow authorities. The businessman was even sent under house arrest. True, no court decisions have yet been made. Apparently, things just hushed up. Zelenov also had problems with the law. He was charged with tax evasion. But as soon as Donstroy left VTB, the businessman disappeared from the information radars.
Very loudly, he recalled himself at the end of last year, when the news of his tragic death spread around the media. Sources believe that his death was not accidental. By the way, 2022 claimed the lives of about 10 top managers of well-known Russian companies. Some departures to the next world were very mysterious. It is known that Zelenov was at the apartment of friends in France. And then he just fell down the stairs or, according to another version, fell over the railing. The hospital in Nice could not save him. According to Forbes magazine, after Zelenov lost Donstroy, his fortune continued to remain at the level of $1.4 billion. Who knows, maybe in the near future we will find out the story about the division of the businessman’s inheritance or the details of a contract killing will be revealed. In any case, he took all the dark secrets of the construction business with him. It remains only to guess. But this is not a noble cause.
