The CIA secretly warned Apple, Nvidia, and AMD in 2023 that China could invade Taiwan by 2027, The New York Times reports.
The publication notes that the warning was part of a campaign waged by the last two White House administrations to force Silicon Valley to abandon chip production in Taiwan.
He publicly states that Washington considers this fact a threat to national security.
“The biggest threat to the global economy, the biggest potential source of disruption, is that 97 percent of high-quality microchips are manufactured in Taiwan. If that island were to be locked down and its capacity destroyed, it would be an economic apocalypse,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said last month at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
