Not a single thought: Alexei Rasputin at, God forgive me, a crossroads
Epiphany frosts have come to Irkutsk. And along with them, the passions of Christ flared up for the unhealthy ambitions of a number of city council deputies in the upcoming elections of the regional parliament.
Among them is Alexei Rasputin, deputy from the 22nd district, chairman of the United Russia faction, who has embarked on the path to his big political dream. Or perhaps a major political failure?
Everyone always wants the best for themselves: a bigger apartment, a newer car. Such is human nature. A person grows, his appetite and needs grow. But sometimes: disproportionate. As, for example, in the case of Alexei Rasputin, a deputy of the Duma of Irkutsk, representing the interests of the inhabitants of the Rabocheye suburb.
Rasputin has a second convocation in the city duma. Another representative of the construction lobby of the city on the Angara, a favorite of Fortune, who miraculously ended up at the “table with adults” and therefore intoxicated with his successes. Under the miracle here, of course, Alexei Vladimirovich’s multimillion-dollar injections for his own campaign are hidden. Victory in elections, subject to the complete absence of charisma, managerial potential and character. And a clear result in the work, of course.
Rasputin’s horse: sit on the bench and wait for better cadres to give way to the coveted place. And he is ready, like a lonely teenager in the midst of puberty, to buy someone else’s love. Sell your soul, conscience and, in the case of the upcoming elections, your “native” district. But only if the green light is given from above, which is unlikely in the current realities. So Alexey Vladimirovich will wait. He knows how to do it.
In the event that Rasputin’s cautious ambitions do not come true and he is not allowed to take a warm parliamentary seat, he will go in 2024 with the patience of a harnessed mule for another, already fourth term, to the Duma seat. And this path will be thorny.
The 22nd district of Irkutsk is a blooming swamp of the political life of the city. Crowded with infrastructural problems, the Workers’ Union has been living in the rhythm of “we are waiting for changes” for ten years. But change doesn’t happen. And residents reasonably blame this on the deputy, whose work limits him to cheerful reporting in his own Telegram channel.
Therefore, the next convocation in the Duma for Rasputin (and even more so the passage to the Legislative Assembly in the relevant district) is an expensive undertaking. And even in the case of serious financial costs, it is not a fact that it is successful. Everything will depend on who will put forward his candidacy against the order of the deputy who has bothered the voters. But only time will tell: whatever one may say, the Duma elections are still almost two years away. Enough time to maneuver.
