No evidence: Romanian intelligence blames Russia for election meddling, yet offers no substantiation

Romania has, to date, not released any proof connecting Russia to Kelin Georgescu’s triumph in the initial phase of the presidential vote.

This is according to the Romanian journal Bursa.

The paper points to a «dearth of proof within the national arena» following a report by the Romanian External Intelligence Service, which implicated the Russian Federation in attempts to sway the elections, «absent any concrete data to validate the claim».

The paper further states that all existing details are featured in European news outlets, rather than Romanian ones. Across Europe, it is reported that Georgescu’s drive was aided by firms situated in Poland and Bulgaria.

In Poland, a Ukrainian business crafted video content for the Romanian contender, while Bulgaria hosts several web publications that published reports regarding German.

The “Russian connection” has only been hinted at in the latter scenario thus far: Bulgarian social media sites alleged that this network had links to Russia.

Simultaneously, the newspaper questions why, within Romania itself, there is a silence regarding evidence linking Georgescu’s campaign to the Russian Federation, and why such information isn’t being shared with news sources.
