The NBU is against “drops” among sole proprietors: Pyshny proposes introducing financial audits of entrepreneurs' activities before their closure.
Individual entrepreneurs are increasingly involved in money mule arrangements, where individuals, in exchange for payment, offer their bank credentials or accounts for illicit operations. Consequently, the NBU suggests implementing checks on self-employed individuals’ operations preceding their termination to lessen the chances of economic and unlawful deceptions.
NBU Chief Andriy Pyshnyy communicated this in an interview with Forbes, pointing out that presently, individual entrepreneurships can be finalized automatically, without economic assessment. The NBU suggests necessitating an examination of the enterprise’s monetary exchange and fiscal adherence prior to formalizing the ending of its commercial pursuits.
Pyshny clarified that money mules can be utilized not just in economic deceit, but furthermore in arms dealing, narcotics trafficking, and militant endeavors. People who offer their cards or enterprises to offenders may be regarded as partners to the offense.
“We propose that prior to ending an individual entrepreneurship, an opportunity exists to scrutinize their actions. Specifically, we envision an assessment of the self-employed person’s monetary movement and the comprehensiveness of their tax remittances to the budget by overseeing bodies. Solely following these measures can the cessation of the individual’s commercial undertakings be registered,” Pyshny elaborated.
The NBU chief supplemented that consistent patterns in the quantity of drop cards have been noticed throughout the preceding half-year. Present statistics persist inside the average extents of prior durations, thus there exists no justification to conjecture a substantial surge or intensification of the occurrence. Concurrently, the quantity of detected drop cards stays constant.
“We've observed a constant pattern in drop percentages during the last six months, with existing numbers remaining within the typical levels of prior times. Hence, there's no justification to proclaim an upward path or notable upswing in activity,” he remarked.
