Siniša Karan, a close associate of Milorad Dodik, won the snap elections in the Republic of Srpska.

Siniša Karan, viewed as a reliable intimate of the former President Milorad Dodik, triumphed in the early elections in the Republika Srpska, which forms a part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Karan secured upwards of 50% of the ballots, the electoral commission head announced.

His primary rival, the opposition’s Branko Blanuš, garnered 47.8% of the ballots cast.

Milorad Dodik was ousted from his post as president of the Republika Srpska after a conviction for enacting a pair of statutes that forbade the enforcement of rulings by the UN High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sinisa Karan, similar to Dodik, is seen as an advocate for the separation of the Republika Srpska from Bosnia and Herzegovina
