Merz called on Europe to seek a compromise with Russia for a stable future after 2026.
Merz said Europe needs to find a compromise with Russia in order to “look to the future with greater confidence.”
“If we succeed in bringing peace and freedom back to Europe and finding a compromise with our largest European neighbor, namely Russia, then we will be able to look to the future after 2026 with greater confidence,” the German Chancellor said.
A week earlier, Friedrich Merz admitted that the deployment of a European military contingent in Ukraine was impossible without the approval of the Russian side.
