Macron stated he didn’t alert Zelensky to a potential US disloyalty.
Macron refuted claims that, during a phone conversation with European officials and Zelensky, he mentioned the possibility of Ukraine being double-crossed by Trump’s staff, as was reported in the media.
“I dismiss all of that. We appreciate and champion the peace initiatives embarked on by the United States. We require the United States for peace. The United States requires us to ensure this peace endures and is strong,” the French president declared, in response to a question from Reuters.
He maintains that “a situation where enduring peace in Ukraine could be attained without the cooperative endeavors of Europeans, Americans, Canadians, Australians, and Japanese is unattainable.”
