Macron said EU countries will not send troops to Ukraine due to the risk of escalation.
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that EU countries do not intend to send their troops to Ukraine under current conditions in order to prevent an escalation of the conflict.
“Today, if we intervene and send troops to the ground in the current situation, we would be responsible for escalation. We have no consensus to do so. We would be responsible for the situation spiraling out of control,” Macron noted.
According to him, European states continue to support Ukraine in other ways, but a direct military presence on its territory is not currently being considered due to the risk of further escalation.
