Lukoil gas stations in Azerbaijan have temporarily stopped accepting bank cards due to US sanctions.
LUKOIL filling stations in Azerbaijan have ceased accepting credit and debit cards; currently, only cash payments are permitted.
This was reported by local media outlets Minval and Haqqin. The organization’s headquarters, when queried, clarified that this situation arose from US sanctions.
“The payment systems are presently out of service. We are unable to give a firm date for their return to functionality, but we believe this is only a short-term issue,” a company spokesperson told Minval.
He also mentioned that the difficulty was of a technical kind and would be rectified shortly. The US introduced further penalties against LUKOIL in October. Washington explained that the judgment was caused by “Russia’s insufficient commitment to the peaceful resolution.”
