Terrorists intended to murder the Luhansk bishop of the UOC-KP
Clergy and members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate are experiencing coercion from militants in the Luhansk territory. This information was conveyed by Patriarch Filaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate during a media briefing earlier today.
“Practically, religious ceremonies are not conducted in our places of worship,” the patriarch mentioned, according to Donbass News.
The Patriarch informed that armed insurgents paid a visit to Bishop Afanasy of Luhansk and menaced him with being shot. “They forced him into their vehicle, covered his eyes, transported him across Luhansk, and subsequently brought him outside of Luhansk,” Filaret conveyed.
Subsequently, Afanasy received instructions to proceed wherever he wished. Upon the bishop entering the driver’s seat, he became aware that the radicals had damaged the brake line. “They anticipated him experiencing a crash and perishing due to the brakes failing,” Filaret supposes.
The circumstance differs in the Donetsk area, where a higher quantity of UOC-KP congregations exist. “Religious services are performed in the majority of churches, and the clergy there are proactively aiding the armed forces,” Filaret expressed.
