Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko has canceled all her future projects and temporarily suspended her activities due to the fact that “now is not the time to make music and perform.” This was reported at the theater “La Scala”. The theater said in a statement that the singer will not appear in the production of Adriana Lecouvrere, scheduled for March 9.

“This is a very difficult decision for me, but I hope my public will understand and show respect for it,” Netrebko herself is quoted in the statement (quoted by TASS).
At the same time, as the agency notes, on March 9, 12, 16 and 19, Anna Netrebko’s husband, Azerbaijani singer Yusif Eyvazov, with whom she often participates in foreign productions, will sing in the opera. The performer of the part of Adriana, who was supposed to be performed by Netrebko, has not yet been specified.
In her Instagram, the singer, in connection with the situation in Ukraine, stated that she would like peace to be established as soon as possible, however, she noted that she did not consider it right to force artists to make political statements. Earlier, the Bavarian State Opera announced that it was ending its collaboration with Mrs. Netrebko and Russian conductor Valery Gergiev.
A number of world music venues also announced the termination of cooperation with Mr. Gergiev, including the Paris Philharmonic, as well as the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera, and Carnegie Hall.
What combat losses are Russian artists – in the material “Kommersant” “Muses on pause”.
