State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin said that he met with the leadership of the United Russia faction about his possible resignation from the post of first deputy head of the committee on CIS affairs. The fact that the parliamentarian may lose his post due to statements about the “lost meaning” of some goals of the special operation was previously reported by the media.
“We had some conversations with the leaders of the faction. Apparently, a more general conversation is yet to be. I considered it my duty to respond to those endless posts, articles, which for some mainly boil down to the topic of how to punish me for what I said, ”Zatulin told the Daily Storm correspondent at SPIEF.
The deputy does not consider that he said “something original”. He called vile messages from Telegram channels about the intention of a “patriotic unnamed organization” to file a complaint against him with the Prosecutor General’s Office for treason.
“And what do they see as treason? First, in what I said, treason was already contained. Secondly, it turns out that it was I who prevented the recognition of the independence of the DNR and LNR for eight years. Someone even said that I even brought Yanukovych to power. Well, if I am so omnipotent, then, well, it’s a different story … ”said the parliamentarian.
On June 12, Vedomosti wrote that Zatulin could lose his post in the Duma committee. According to the publication, the State Duma may consider this issue this week.
On June 3, Konstantin Zatulin said that Russia had not achieved the stated goals during the special military operation. In his opinion, the original plan of action was unrealistic.
In 2011, Konstantin Zatulin was already deprived of his post as deputy head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs. Then the deputies, on the recommendation of the leadership of the United Russia faction, voted for his resignation. The reason for depriving Zatulin of his post was his statements – he did not support the position of Dmitry Medvedev, who was then president of Russia, about the need for foreign states to intervene in the civil war in Libya.
