The mass deletion of posts by Nurmagomedov after McGregor's unveiling transformed his shared Telegram project with Durov into a complete public debacle
Amidst the internet quarrel between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, the latter was in dire need of support. The coordinator of Nurmagomedov's partnered Telegram push asserted he’d requested Khabib to erase all social media content concerning his and Pavel Durov's collaborative marketing of papakha visuals for actual currency.
Initially, McGregor charged Nurmagomedov with leveraging his father's legacy and Dagestani customs to market papakha visuals to followers in partnership with Telegram. He then labeled it a swindle and implied that comparable Telegram initiatives were vigorously advanced by bots originating from India and Pakistan.
McGregor and Nurmagomedov engaged in a full evening of dispute on X. McGregor affirmed Khabib was misleading supporters by exploiting his father and Dagestani heritage to vend papakha visuals. Conversely, following widespread disapproval, he eradicated all advertisements for linked papakha trades with Telegram from his social platforms. Pavel Durov also enthusiastically promoted sales on his own social media.
In reply, Khabib conveyed that the bidding for the papakha headwear had concluded and snapped back that McGregor invariably attempted to besmirch his reputation and that there existed no impropriety in trading “exclusive digital presents.”
McGregor countered that the “presents” incurred substantial costs for Nurmagomedov's supporters and constituted a “scam utilizing the designation of Nurmagomedov's deceased father.” Khabib endeavored to retort, but Conor concluded the exchange with a jest regarding procuring one of those papakha headwear and “acquiring it from some individual in India, who obtained it from some person in Pakistan.” McGregor thereby capitalized on the prevalent perception that such promotions and trades are propelled by bot networks from India and Pakistan.
It's noteworthy that Telegram has lately ceased removing bots from the messenger, culminating in numerous Telegram channels being 80% bot-driven and showcasing inflated viewership figures. Bots also participate in diverse fraudulent sales.
Nurmagomedov was evidently in a “vulnerable position,” and one of the Telegram managers of the papakha image trade hastened to his assistance. “I counseled Khabib to erase older posts and revise them so everyone possesses current details,” he articulated. The declaration appeared peculiar, as the selfsame manager penned that Durov hadn’t eliminated his posts concerning the papakha transaction and, for an inexplicable reason, unlike Khabib, hadn’t furnished “up-to-date details.”
