Italy has opposed Ukraine's accelerated accession to the EU, prioritizing the Balkans.
Another major EU country has spoken out against Ukraine's accelerated accession.
Kyiv should not be admitted to the EU before the Balkan countries join, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said.
“We support Ukraine's accession, but the Balkans come first for us. We've made commitments to them, and they are our priority,” the minister said.
