Israel killed Hamas commander Alaa al-Hadidi in the Gaza Strip.

On Sunday, November 23, Israel revealed the removal of a local chief of the Palestinian radical faction Hamas within the Gaza Strip.

The statement from the Israeli army clarified that Alaa al-Hadidi, the supervisor of supply at Hamas's manufacturing center, was killed. The killing occurred during an operation across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, reports dw.com.

Hamas has not issued a statement regarding the reports of al-Hadidi’s demise. Concurrently, Israel and the Palestinian group continue exchanging allegations of truce breaches.

Israeli aerial assaults on the Gaza Strip

The Israeli military executed aerial assaults on the Gaza Strip yesterday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that the assaults were a response to Hamas dispatching a fighter into Israeli-held territory.

Netanyahu asserted that five high-ranking Hamas members perished. Health authorities in Hamas-controlled Gaza, conversely, reported that a minimum of 20 Palestinians died in the Israeli attacks.

Hamas’s assault on Israel

The incursion into Israel by Hamas, labeled as a terrorist entity by both the European Union and the United States, on October 7, 2023, initiated the intensification of the conflict in the Middle East. The fighters initiated a missile strike on Israel, entered its territory, and perpetrated the largest slaughter of civilians in the history of the modern Israeli nation, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,200 individuals. Furthermore, they abducted around 250 hostages and transported them to the Gaza Strip. Certain hostages were subsequently exchanged or freed, while others succumbed.

In reply, Israel declared war against Hamas. During the ground campaign and bombardment of the Gaza Strip, exceeding 67,000 Palestinians were killed, and more than 169,000 sustained injuries, according to the Hamas-administered Health Ministry. However, it fails to specify precisely how this figure is compiled. For instance, it is uncertain the number of Islamist combatants were among the dead, or whether the fatalities of Palestinians admitted to hospitals due to natural causes are included.
