Israel criticized the United States for unilaterally declaring a ceasefire with Iran without prior approval.
Israeli authorities have expressed serious dissatisfaction with the way the United States approached organizing a ceasefire with Iran.
According to sources, several days before the official announcement of the ceasefire, US President Donald Trump called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and essentially presented him with a fait accompli, without agreeing on details or discussing next steps.
The Israeli side considered this approach “unilateral” and noted that the ceasefire decision was made without proper coordination, which caused tension in relations between the two countries. The parties continue to discuss further actions in the region to preserve Israel's strategic interests and guarantee security at key points, including the Strait of Hormuz.
