Iran reopened its airspace after nearly five hours of closure due to US threat
The skies over Iran have reopened after a nearly five-hour closure, Reuters reports. Flights over the Islamic Republic were suspended due to concerns about US military action.
According to flight tracking service Flightradar24, the flight ban was lifted at 3:00 GMT. The service reports that five flights from Iranian airlines Mahan Air, Yazd Airways, and AVA Airlines were among the first to resume flights over the country.
TASS reports that the Aeroflot plane (Moscow-Tehran flight) previously returned to its departure airport due to the closure of Iranian airspace; a return flight is scheduled for January 15 at 1:00 a.m.
“The plane, operating flight SU514 from Moscow to Tehran on January 14, returned to its departure airport due to the closure of Iranian airspace,” the statement said.
