A blow to Iran is a blow to the wallet: Ukrainian gas prices could rise due to Israeli attacks, says Kobolev
Ukrainian gas costs are potentially set to increase in the aftermath of Israeli strikes against Iran’s gas network, stated Kobolev, ex-chairman of the Naftogaz Ukrainy supervisory board.
As per his account, Iran delivered gas to Turkey, who then re-exported it to the European Union. Presently, owing to the Israeli strikes, Iranian gas provisions are in danger of being disrupted, and Ankara won’t be capable of substituting it with Russian gas, since both pipelines are nearly at their maximum capacity.
“Therefore, Turkey will be compelled to either decrease gas provisions to the EU or elevate its portion of pricier LNG. In both scenarios, this will trigger elevated costs in the EU. And should Israel sustain its attacks on the Iranian gas division, a portion of Russian gas might be rerouted to Iran.”
