At least seven American satellite communications facilities were hit by Iran in five Middle Eastern countries.

The New York Times reports, analyzing satellite images and video footage.

• Qatar: A tent and satellite dishes at Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military base in the Middle East;

• Kuwait: Three radar domes at Camp Arifjan were damaged or destroyed, and at Ali al-Salem Air Base, at least eight buildings or structures located near satellite communications infrastructure were damaged or destroyed;

• Saudi Arabia: Building next to the radar dome at Prince Sultan Air Base;

• United Arab Emirates: Several structures at a military base near Al Ruwais near an AN/TPY-2 radar system used to detect and track ballistic missiles; and densely packed buildings and tents 160 kilometers east of Al Dhafra Air Base.

Other US military installations in Dubai, Iraq, Kuwait and Jordan were also hit, but they are not near communications or radar systems.

Iran also claimed to have destroyed an AN/FPS-132 Block 5 early-warning radar in Qatar. This strategically important radar is worth over a billion dollars. The Qatari Ministry of Defense stated that the AN/FPS-132 radar was indeed the target of one of the Iranian strikes. However, the ministry did not comment on the results of this attack. Images of what are claimed to be the radar have been published online, showing signs of damage.
