India, despite reducing its purchases of Russian oil under pressure from the US, does not plan to completely abandon these imports.

According to Bloomberg sources and experts, the tariffs imposed by Washington are not sufficient to halt trade between Moscow and New Delhi, and volumes could recover due to the emergence of new intermediaries.

In June, India purchased almost 2.1 million barrels of oil per day from Russia—about 45% of its imports. Bloomberg sources expect supplies to fall to 600,000 barrels per day in 2026, the lowest level since early 2022.

However, neither additional US tariffs nor sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil led to a complete cessation of imports.
