The court has already removed the head of the community from his position. He was sent into custody with the right to post bail of more than 205 thousand hryvnia.
In the Varashsky district of the Rivne region, the head of a community and a deputy of one of the city councils were exposed for taking a bribe. The Office of the Prosecutor General announced this on Wednesday, October 16.
The investigation found that the head of the community promised the director of the agricultural enterprise not to initiate the issue of terminating the concluded lease agreements for land plots used by the company at a session of the local council. For this, the official asked for 5 thousand dollars.
The director of the enterprise provided another 10 thousand dollars to a deputy of one of the city councils so that he could “resolve” the same issue with the elected representatives of the community.
The chairman of the community was charged with complete attempt to obtain an unlawful benefit and incitement to provide an unlawful benefit for influencing decision-making by a person authorized to perform the functions of local self-government (part 2 of article 15, part 3 of article 368, part 4 of article 27, Part 1 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and for a city council deputy – receiving unlawful benefits for himself for influencing persons authorized to perform the functions of local self-government (Part 2 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Preventive measures were chosen for the suspect: the deputy was given 24-hour house arrest, and the head of the community was given detention with the right to post more than UAH 205,000 in bail. In addition, by a court decision, the head of the community was removed from his position.
